1860-1943
Sam was the second child of Johnathan and Ann Browning. Initially enlisted in 1880, Sam started his career as a bricklayer constructing the small Browning Brothers factory built to produce the 1878 rifle. Sam then worked in the factory producing rifles, and as part of the repair shop once the patent was sold. By 1900 he was the company purchasing agent, and sales manager. He later served as City Councilman, Commissioner, and Mayor of Ogden.
