George R. Watrous
George Watrous joined Winchester in 1900 and by 1915 rose to Superintendent of the Cartridge Department. Throughout his career he would also manage the Gun Sales and Line departments.
Watrous is best known for is work compiling a chronological history of all firearms produced by Winchester Repeating Arms Company. This stemmed from a 1942 project requested by Winchester executives to assess the future of post-war product lines. Watrous’ manuscript would be the foundation for the later book, The History of Winchester Firearms, 1866 to 1980.
