US patent No. 209600 is largely a simplified version of the previous Browning patent No. 409599. The tipping bolt now rotates vertically to engage the locking lugs with the receiver and the design is adapted to use a striker. While Winchester was in immediately interested in the design, they would purchase and shelve it to prevent competition.

In this shotgun the forward end of the bolt tilts downward to disengage the locking lugs from the receiver. The movement is effected by a cam slot similar to that in patent No. 385238.
